Quick answers

How do I use the online tasbeeh counter?

What should I say after salah?

A common Sunnah practice after each obligatory prayer is SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times. Many also recite Ayat al-Kursi and the three Quls.

Is it allowed to use a tasbeeh counter?

The Prophet ﷺ counted dhikr on his fingers (Sunan Abi Dawud, Jami' at-Tirmidhi), and many scholars consider beads or a counter a permissible tool to help you keep count. The intention and presence of the heart are what matter.

What is the best zikr counter app?

A good zikr counter app counts accurately, lets you set daily targets, shows your streak and has no ads. Islamic Tracker includes a zikr and tasbeeh counter with targets and analytics, plus morning and evening adhkar with reminders, for free.

How many times should I say Astaghfirullah?

There is no fixed limit. The Prophet ﷺ said he sought Allah's forgiveness more than seventy times a day (Sahih al-Bukhari) and, in another narration, a hundred times (Sahih Muslim). Many people set a daily target of 100.

Can I use the tasbih counter for taraweeh?

Yes. Tap once after each pair of rak'ahs to keep count of taraweeh, for example to 10 for 20 rak'ahs or 4 for 8 rak'ahs. Just watch the count and stop at the number your masjid prays.

Tasbeeh counter online: dhikr after Salah (33, 33, 34)

A well-known Sunnah, reported in Sahih Muslim, is to say SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times after each obligatory prayer, making 100 in total. Set the target to 33 for the first two phrases and 34 for the last. Another narration says each of the first three 33 times and completes the hundred with La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay'in qadir.

Tasbeeh after salah, step by step

After each obligatory (fard) prayer, a well-known Sunnah is to glorify Allah 100 times in total. Here is the most common form, with Arabic, transliteration and meaning:

سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّٰهِ

SubhanAllah 33 times

Glory be to Allah

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ

Alhamdulillah 33 times

All praise is for Allah

ٱللَّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ

Allahu Akbar 34 times

Allah is the Greatest

This 33, 33, 34 form is reported by Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah in Sahih Muslim (596). In another narration, from Abu Hurairah in Sahih Muslim (597), each of the first three is said 33 times and the hundred is completed with:

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ ٱلْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa huwa 'ala kulli shay'in qadir once

There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things.

Either form is good to follow. The same 33, 33, 34 is also taught as a dhikr before sleeping, in the well-known hadith of Fatimah (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim).

How to use the digital tasbih for this

  1. Choose SubhanAllah and set the target to 33. Tap once for each recitation; the counter tells you when you reach 33.
  2. Switch to Alhamdulillah and count another 33.
  3. Switch to Allahu Akbar and set the target to 34.
  4. On a computer you can press the space bar instead of tapping. Each phrase keeps its own count in your browser, so you can reset it before the next prayer.

Counting on your fingers, as the Prophet ﷺ did, is the Sunnah. A counter is simply an aid for when you want to keep an exact number, for example for a larger daily target.
